5 easiest cosplays

Last week a friend and I decided we wanted to go to Desucon, which is the largest anime convention in Norway. I've already been there three times, and had a good time most of it, but last year I didn't go, due to lack of interest in the anime field. However, this summer my interest in anime has arisen from the dead, and I'm the biggest fangirl I have ever been.

Now seeing that Desucon is only 4 days away, I found it impossible to come up with a proper cosplay in time. Also I have never actually cosplayed before. But I have done some research, and here are a few easy cosplays ideas if you're in a rush or have little money!

1. L (Death Note)
The first time I went to Desucon, 4 years ago, almost everyone cosplayed L. And I can see why! It's super easy! A white jumper, blue jeans, some eyeliner and black hair are the only requirements. I bet many already have these in their closets. And it might also be a good idea to carry a sugary snack like banana, muffin or chocolate, since L is known for his "diet".

2. Misa Amane (Death Note)

Another Death Note character! n__n'
While she may look difficult, Misa Misa is known to wear gothic/punk, sometimes very revealing clothes and black platform boots. Her pigtails are her trademark, and having blonde hair isn't necessary; in the live-action movie she has brown hair.

3. Okabe Rintarou (Steins;Gate)

You guys should've seen this coming! I am obsessed with this guy (as I was happy to elaborate in my Steins;Gate review). And take a look at his outfit, it's insanely easy. Brown trousers, black belt, grey sweater, and a lab coat. But don't forget about the stubbles, they're very important.

4. Misty (Pokemon)
Everyone knows Misty from Pokemon, right? Just look at how simple her outfit is! I'm actually thinking about cosplaying her myself, if I can get hold of some shorts, a yellow shirt, and perhaps some red suspenders. Red converse would also be perfect for this.

5.  Uchiha Sasuke (Naruto)
Young Sasuke can be easy to cosplay, if you have the right equipment already. Grab a headband, blue shirt, white shorts and some bandages and you're set. I think the arm things he wear can easily be sewn.

So those are some very easy cosplay ideas for both boys and girls! What do you think? If you know of other easy characters to dress up as, shout out in the comments!

Thoughts on Chihayafuru?

Did anoyone else find Chihayafuru kind of boring? I thought it was going to be great, since I had read some good reviews.

And though the art work is beautiful, the story isn't very captivating at all. It's high school students playing a card game, and it reminded me much of shows like Beyblade and Pokemon, only for more "mature" people. The protagonist is so quiet and has little personality, I find it hard to believe the others want to be around her. I can't even remember any of the other characters, except her two guy friends who play the game with her, and that is mostly only because they're hot and probably like her.

I hate dropping animes, in fear that they suddenly become masterpieces at the last episode, but I decided that Chihayafuru just wasn't worth my time anymore. Now, I only dropped it at episode 8, and I am curious to know what you guys think about this anime, even if you really like it. Did I make a mistake, or was I right to not spend more time on this?

Steins;Gate: terrible mess or terrific masterpiece? (spoiler free review)

So I did recently finish Steins;Gate, and these are my thoughts on it. If you get past the slow beginning, it might be very enjoyable actually. Be prepared to be confused at the start, there's no real golden thread, and to be honest I was skeptical to see where this was going. But I really wanted to give the anime a chance, since it is after all ranked as the 3rd best anime on's top anime page.

If you saw my video, you will already be familiar with the main character of the anime, and in my opinion, one of the most amazing characters ever. Okabe Rintarou is just wonderful.
Now the anime itself is simply about him and his friends experimenting with and trying to build time machines, and it IS properly explained if you just wait it out a few episodes. There is also a lot of friendships, love and sacrifice. I'm afraid if I say more I'll be spoiling too much. Just go watch it ok.

Genre? Must be psychological thriller or something like that..

Though I usually do not favour harem animes, this one is one of the better. Characters have proper depth, and play important roles in the storyline. They can make you cry. The music's fantastic. The art is also fantastic. The story's a bit messy, but still, isn't that exactly what time is supposed to be? I think that is one important point they are trying to make here.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbley ... timey wimey ... stuff"
- The Doctor

Everything is just fantastic. Although I hesitated to rate this anime, I thought to myself, "what the heck, it kept me up at night" (and it honestly did, and I even dreamt about my endeared Okarin), and gave it 10/10.

These are my favourite charcters.

Feel free to share opinions. I will be back with comments on the OVA episode. Until then.

Book review: One Day by David Nicholls

So I was super excited to read this book, the international bestseller or something like that, One Day by David Nicholls. And I'll just be honest here: This book was a waste of time, I could tell how it was gonna end by looking at the front cover.

For those who don't know; it's about a boy and a girl meeting at their college graduation, and then what happens to them on the same date each year. I think this is an interesting concept in regards to writing technique, though difficult to carry out qualitatively.

The book starts really slow, and in the beginning I was very confused as to where the author was going with this. Still, after the first two chapters I could predict what's going to happen - 300 pages from then. The stuff in between were just fillers really.

The story have endless flashbacks and characters thinking back, in order to fill out the missing information, which I feel works against the entire idea of "One Day". There are also lots of tiny details and descriptions (I suspect the author here was payed for every single word), and things that aren't really important for the main storyline.

The characters are "not like everybody else", they're original and unique, though also unlikable. Main guy is a jerk and an alcoholic, and can't even treat his best friend properly. Main girl is has low self-esteem (for much of the book), but finds every excuse to criticise others, and although intelligent, she has zero self respect.

After about 350 pages this book becomes slightly better and enjoyable, but within another 50 pages Nicholls has manages to ruin it by adding a tragedy, which "moved the whole nation". Although I do agree that the one scene is sad, the novel in it's whole did not really move me at all, and I can't see what all the fuss is about.

So no, I would not recommend this book, sorry. There exists a movie which I have not seen (don't really feel like trying either, but I might since I hear the actors are attractive), but if anyone else have I would much like to hear your opinions of it.

Until next time.

XBOX FAIL (game talk)

I don't know much about gaming, but according to the internet, it seems like no one wants the new Xbox. Why? I'm not quite sure. You cannot play offline, I think? You have to own a web camera in order to use it? And have it connected to the console while playing?

At least I think those are some of the reasons we hate Xbox now. Which is kind of a shame really, since I have some good memories playing Naruto Shipuuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 on an old Xbox 360. But I'll have to admit that is the only time I ever played this console.

I'm more of a Nintendo person I would say. Although, only a few days ago, I got to try out this game called Journey, for ps3. That was a blast. The entire point of the game is to reach the mountain top, and I know, it sounds DULL, but it will keep you amused. You can even meet other players and cooperate with them in order to proceed, but you are unable to talk to them, so communication has to happen in alternative ways. Which made things really interesting and made me laugh a lot. And also the scenery is stunning.

So yeah, definitely recommended, and you can even play through it in less than 2 hours.

Ever played Journey? Your opinion? Any other good video games to recommend?
